The brightly-coloured parrot fish reminds us to celebrate all of who we are and be unafraid to show our true selves to the world with courage and self-belief. Nearly all parrot fish begin their lives as females before becoming male towards the end of their life, showing us the importance of balance and honouring the duality of our true nature.
Parrotfish have a unique technique for hiding from predators. At night when they’re most vulnerable to coming under attack, they protect themselves using a mucous cocoon which the construct themselves. This cocoon masks their scent from their predators that hunt at night.
The parrot fish demonstrates the power of courage and energetic protection, showing us that we can still be present and show up in situations that scare us or seem risky providing that we’re true to ourselves, prepared and able to protect our own energy, even if it means we have to step inward and dull our shine temporarily.
As we navigate through the energy waters of life, we can see that in order to lead a life in full colour, we often have to hide them from those who wish to bring us harm or drain us of our light. It is important to have a unique voice and signature on all you do, but true authenticity is when you find the perfect balance between ego and heart, light and dark, yin and yang – and not hiding away from any of it. Find new innovative ways to stay safe and in your truth.
