Kin Essence - Practice patience in reaction more so than in action
The praying mantis is the master of patience and persistence, waiting opportunistically for prey to cross it’s path while it blends in with its surrounding environment. Their long spindly limbs, large triangular heads and large bulging eyes make them look otherworldly in appearance, almost looking more like guardians, teachers or way-showers into what it takes to practice being truly present and carrying deep wisdom in mind, body and soul.
The praying mantis can use camouflage to make itself look like a leaf, stick, branch or flower, allowing it to remain undetected by unsuspecting insects, and it strikes when the insect come close enough to reach. It’s rocking behaviour, rhythmic in nature is either a tool they use to match that of the environment around them for defence or to also determine the same vibrational force in others too.
Possessing extraordinary eye-sight, the praying mantis doesn’t miss any potential prey in its sights and has very accurate judgement when it comes to walking and jumping. Reminding us the gift of surrender, patience and determination, the praying mantis asks us to let go of control, worry and disappointment and instead have patience and trust.
Patience is not only in our actions but also in our reactions. It is one thing to practice the art of waiting, surrender and inner peace but isn’t until we are truly tested that our true colours are really seen and our actual knowledge can be applied.
